“Like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation.” (1 Peter 2:2)
A deeper teaching of the Bible is that the message of salvation – the Gift – is spiritual milk meant only for new believers. The Bible also teaches that mature Christians must progress to understanding what is beyond the Gift, moving on to the spiritual meat of the Word, in order to please God and earn heavenly rewards.
